Alright, folks, strap in because we’ve got a power move coming out of North Texas. Damashja Harris, the big-bodied running back who made waves with the Mean Green, is hitting the transfer portal as a grad student.

Here’s the quick play-by-play: Harris, standing tall at 6’2″ and packing 230 pounds, originally hails from the sunny streets of Tallahassee. Last season he was out there putting in the work for North Texas, logging 193 yards and a touchdown on just 22 carries. Not bad for one season’s hustle, right?

Before this UNT stint, Damashja was shining over at Lamar. He didn’t just play—he showed out, snagging First Team All-Southland Conference honors as a kick returner. Over three years with the Cardinals, he piled up 515 yards and three TDs on 127 carries. 2023 was the big one for him, with 299 yards and all three of those touchdowns.

Speaking of North Texas, they wrapped up last season with a 6-7 record. Not exactly the glory finish, slipping in the First Responder Bowl. Rushing-wise, they were ninth out of a 14-team lineup in the American Athletic Conference, pulling in a respectable 160.6 yards per game.

Now, what’s next for Harris? Who knows, but he’s prime for any program looking to spruce up their backfield with talent and experience. Keep an eye out, because this guy’s just getting started.
